Catalog Description: This is an introductory course to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Part of a two-course sequence, SP 101 and SP 102 are designed to develop: (i) basic communicative skills in Spanish as a foreign language; and (ii) general knowledge about culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Students should not expect this course to be just about memorization of grammar and vocabulary. Although these aspects are necessary to achieve the aforementioned skills and knowledge, they are not the sole focus of this course.
